Project Green

I promise you, every single time i look at my little seedlings growing, my heart skips a beat! Yesterday morning i look over my lettuce and parsley seedlings and there was barely any signs of life. By that night, i had teeny weeny little stalks! It was great!

I put extra lettuce seeds in a Ziploc snack baggie with a spray of water and now, they are all cracking open and showing a single root! Ahhhh the wonders of being a gardener.

I will have pictures of the seedlings by Tuesday for sure, if not sooner. My lettuce should yield in about a 4 weeks. But, repotting will have to happen within the next two weeks for sure.

Buzzy offers beginner kitchen grow-kits which are awesome! I have two of them. I promise you, if instructions are followed, you will see sprouts within 3 days of planting. By the way, it only took 1 day for my seeds in the baggie to start getting fuzzy and sprouting.

Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

God's Garden

I believe that gardening is a way to talk to God one on one. Along with working, you are alone where you can hear God speak and you are out there with nature. God's creations. The bible speaks often of gardens and gardening. The world is God's garden. We are his creations along with animals and plants alike. God created enough resources to feed all of his people and animals but our misuse has been detrimental to those resources. So, by gardening, you can help give back to God.

God waters and feeds all of the plants of the world. When you look at the forests, the wildflowers, the ocean plantlife, the grass, you are looking at the work of the first and the most experienced gardener the world knows.

So, if you feel overwhelmed with the worries in your life, pick up a kitchen grow-kit or a few seeds from a local nursery or hardware store, and plant them. Watching them grow everyday is nourishing to your soul and it has a calming effect on your senses. It also gives you a sense of accomplishment. Plus, it yields nutritious and tasty eats!

• Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Green Goodness

It has only been 4 days since i planted my Basil, Parsley, and Chives, and I have 1/2 inch sprouts. I am so happy to see that! It really is great to see something that you planted grow into full grown edibles. I am sure that i will be able to harvest within the next 4-6 weeks. I will need to repot each sprout in its own container by next week, for sure.

How blissful it is to grow!

I am so excited to let you know that after planting my veggie seeds on Sunday, i already have sprouts! Yay! They look so cute...tiny little seedlings....wooohooo!

I have a few gardens going on at the moment. After i get these off the ground, i will start on a water garden. That's gonna be exciting! Oh the pleasures of gardening and being one with nature! You can't beat it!

Garden of Stress

Genesis 2:8
And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

I am usually stressed about something. The main source of my stress is stupid people but....i find that doing things that are in the realm of nature calms me down. I have been doing my aquariums and my gardening.

So....a brief introduction to the Garden of Chasaty.

  • White Lisbon Bunching Onion
  • Californian Wonder Sweet Pepper
  • Great Lakes Lettuce
  • Mini Tomato
  • Russet Potato
  • Mint
  • Basil
  • Oregano
  • Chives
These are my garden babies. They will mature and give birth to tasty veggies in about 3 months or less for some plants. I have sprouts for my herbs already. Yay!
